Rapat Corporation is looking for a Design Engineer to join our team!
At Rapat Corporation, we offer a full line of material handling equipment. We design each conveyor to meet customer needs. Located a quick 30-40 minutes outside of the FM area in Hawley, MN.
Applicant must have experience will/knowledge of:
• Industrial construction/project management
• Millwrights
• Material handling equipment
• Mechanical conveying
• Low to medium voltage electric control systems and electric motors
• Technical writing experience
• High mechanical aptitude
A Successful Candidate with have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2+ years of related experience
• Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
• Strong understanding of machine design, mechanical components, structural steels, manufacturing procedures and industrial construction methods
• Ability to work from schematics, blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions
Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Evaluate customer requirements and recommend mechanical & structural solutions.
• Create/modify site layouts pertaining to mechanical conveyance.
• Create 2D equipment drawings for customer approval based on sales orders and preliminary design
• Must ensure all aspects of the project meet relevant safety codes or standards (MSHA, OSHA, customer specifications, etc.)
• Evaluate & document component/machine capabilities, capacities, and strengths
• Evaluate and select appropriate purchased components
• Design support structures adequate per application
• Coordinate requirements & design details with external structural PE’s
• Design/model mechanical components from complete assemblies to piece parts.
• Assign part numbers & descriptions to new models and manage/oversee data transfer and shop release
• Create and review shop drawings
• Manage activities involved in fabrication, installation, operation, and repair of equipment as required
• Compile engineering documentation & create custom owner’s manuals
• Assist sales department with technical portion of project proposals
• Research and develop new products and applications
• Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications/improvements
• Act as team leader on large projects with multiple engineers/designers assigned
• Maintain working knowledge of company design standards and processes
• Evaluate ECR’s, implement ECO’s, create new standards & processes as required
Shift:
• Position is full time
• Core hours are Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
