Ethanol Plant, Minnesota
Project Type: Ethanol Plant
Location: Minnesota
Capacities: 20,000 CFH
After an ethanol plant updated its facility to use wood biomass as a fuel source, it hired Rapat to engineer a new material handling system. Rapat proceeded to design a custom chain conveyor with a dust hood to receive the biomass from incoming trucks. Rapat also supplied a system of enclosed belts to move material while reducing dust emissions; a self-cleaning magnet to remove tramp materials before the product reached the gasifier; and a bucket elevator to fill the raw material silo. The overall success of the project helped the plant prove the feasibility of biomass as a fuel source.
