Rapat was selected by a Michigan limestone mining company to retrofit a material handling system for an existing plant, which screened limestone and loaded it onto ships. For this project Rapat engineered a series of custom conveyors, including a unique telescoping ship-loading conveyor, to transfer 1-inch-minus calcite limestone at rates up to 4,000 short tons per hour. The conveyors were engineered for continuous use with special design considerations for handling the highly abrasive rock.
